This is reoccurring breaking plastic. That s not normal wear and tear. As i bought it around one year back and on the right side of the laptop hinge leave space even after they fixed it. Which is a design flaw.

My inspiron 5547 has a badly broken right hinge that is damaging the body of the computer. I called and asked dell to cover the installati. As the laptop was 3 years old when the problem developed and i saw dell disavowed any design issue in the many failures online see links below i ordered the replacement lower case online.
